Kootenai County Fire & Rescue (KCFR) is located in northern Idaho and serves the cities of Post Falls, Dalton Gardens, Huetter, State Line Village, Fernan Village, and much of the unincorporated areas of the county.  Surrounded by scenic mountains and pristine lakes, the area is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, offering recreational activities that include hunting, world class fishing, boating, biking trails, golf, and skiing. 

KCFR is one of the largest full service fire districts in the state, serving over 45,000 residents in an area of 113 square miles.  KCFR is staffed by 50 career and 31 reserve responders. In addition, there are seven career and nine support staff.  The district is governed by a board of five fire commissioners and has a 2011-12 budget of $7,676,941.  Reporting to the board of commissioners, the Fire Chief is responsible for the management and administration of all of the district's fire and emergency medical services and resources.  

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, fire science, business administration or a related field is desired.  The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of seven to ten years of experience in a comparable or larger agency with extensive experience in a senior management role, such as fire chief, deputy/assistant fire chief, operations chief or battalion chief.  Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR - Meridian, Idaho

Under the direction of the Mayor and City Council, the Director of Community Development manages and directs the functions and activities of the Community Development Department.

The position will direct the City’s programs encompassing the management of land use design and development, long range planning, Community Development Block Grant, transportation planning and coordination, municipal infrastructure coordination and plan review, and building permit issuance and inspection services. Ensuring the City’s mission, council direction, core values and strategic initiatives are incorporated into operational activities and services while serving as a member of the City’s senior leadership team. This individual administers the City’s Uniform Development Code (UDC), and ensures compliance with the adopted International Codes for building.

The individual is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative in establishing efficient and effective departmental operations and resolve difficult administrative and technical problems consistent with City policies and administrative guidelines established by the Mayor and City Council.
