Executive Director Alec Hansen has set the District Legislative Meetings for cities and towns in Central and Eastern Montana. Discussion at these meetings will focus on the good and bad things that happened during the recent Legislature and how these results will affect the operations of municipal governments across the state.
The 2013 Legislature was deeply divided, but strangely productive. It passed a fair and balanced budget, fixed the pension systems, financed state building and local capital improvement projects, revised school funding and generally resisted the temptation to mandate additional costs or interfere in the business of local government.
These meetings will also offer information on the Entitlement Program, pension contributions, MMIA health insurance premiums and other budget and finance issues for the coming fiscal year.
We encourage all members to attend these meetings or at least send a representative to discuss these issues and other concerns of our cities and towns. Please feel free to attend whichever location is most convenient.
