Resolution #2011-9 Mandatory Use of Safety Belts

The benefits of safety belts are recognized by experts across the country and confirmed by statistics.  They save lives, reduce the severity of injuries and cut insurance costs.  In Montana failure to wear a safety belt is a secondary violation, which impedes the enforcement of the law. 

Be it resolved that the League of Cities and Towns will support Legislation to establish the failure to use safety belts as a primary offense.
